Are we becoming a nation of internet addicts
I have to confess the first thing I do in the morning is turn on my desktop to access the Internet and on many occasions actually eat my breakfast while using the computer, I can imagine there are many people who can relate to this.
We all know somebody who can not leave the computer for one moment, maybe a partner or a child or perhaps it is you who cannot take your eyes away from the screen.
In this ever increasing cyber world people are now becoming addicted to accessing the Internet. There is even an official name for it “Internet addiction disorder (IAD)”. People are becoming over dependent on the Internet and feel they can not live without it.
There was a brief Internet blackout in my home town for a day and every thing became chaotic, businesses were the worst affected and lost a great deal of money on the day, even the police were a bit lost as they rely on the Internet nowadays.
